We are in the catchment area for Kinglake, Whittlesea, Doreen, South Morang, Yarrambat, Greensborough, St Helena, Eltham, Hurstbridge, Wattle Glen, Diamond Creek, Plenty, and surrounding areas.
Sutherland’s Child Care and Early Learning Centre is run by our very experienced Director, Deborah Wagner. Deborah has been in the Child Care Industry for over 25 years. The Centre is privately owned by a local family who have lived in Plenty since 1926.
The Centre is situated on a rural heritage site of 19 acres, with beautiful views of the Kinglake ranges. Kangaroos graze in the paddocks on this green wedge property.
The Centre has an Open Door policy, and we offer parents peace of mind, a clean safe and loving environment for your Child. We have highly qualified staff committed to the care and development of your Child. Children are encouraged to learn about their environment, respect multiculturalism, gender equality and disabilities. Our staff are passionate and committed in focusing on the care of your Child, and making their experience at our Centre an enjoyable experience. We offer a kindergarten program for 3-4 and 4-5 year olds. The kindergarten program is run by a Qualified Teacher. Our staff are experienced, and come from different cultural backgrounds, some staff being multilingual and others bilingual.
We are participating in the Nillumbik Early Years Open Day - Saturday, 26 May, 2012 10.00 am - 1.00 pm. Our Teacher, Amy, and staff will be happy to show parents around the Kinder Room, and answer any questions you may have.
All meals are cooked on site by a professional Chef, who provides delicious, tasty, and nutritious meals for the children - breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, using fresh produce.
The Centre is open from 7.00 am – 6.30 pm Monday to Friday – licensed to cater for 90 children, 50-52 weeks each year. Our Centre caters from 6 weeks to 5 years, and we do offer occasional care, numbers and staff permitting. We would welcome your call to check availability.

Centre Philosophy
Our aim is to move forward to a childcare future that exceeds expectations. We are ever mindful that infants are born with basic abilities that grow with each new discovery ~ this insight ensures we are committed to enhancing and extending the development of children.
The structure of our programming is to follow the Early Learning Frame Work concept. We will provide a caring program which involves your child’s environment and provides open ended opportunities for individuals to meet their needs and assist in all areas of development. We foster the individuality of each child by providing welcoming and affectionate staff that are on hand to praise, encourage, cuddle and support as they involve themselves in your child’s day. Our staff are trained in areas which deal with many other issues and needs that are raised daily.
We offer flexible children programs that value the importance of play, challenge and extend children’s interest in learning and developing natural curiosity and cultivate creativity. We believe each child is a unique individual, and can develop their own skills in all areas. Children’s interactions with their peers, adults, family participation and community are seen as an integral part of that development. We value parents input into the centre routines - we have an Open Door policy to Parents.
